McConnell Gas Price Petition
Posted: Wednesday, August 27, 2008
BREAKING NEWS: After months of stalling, Democrats in Congress might allow a vote on off-shore drilling. Now is the time to increase pressure on congressional leadership.
More than 25 thousand people have signed my petition in support of the Gas Price Reduction Act. The Gas Price Reduction Act would help lower gas prices by expanding domestic energy production and promoting new conservation methods.
For months Democrat leaders in the House and Senate have blocked common-sense bills like mine that would open new acres to off-shore drilling. Now it looks like the grassroots movement encouraging Congress to take action and lower gas prices is working.
From The Wall Street Journal:
It took a few months, and more than a few polls, but Democrats have concluded that they've lost the debate against more oil-and-gas drilling. The surrender became official on Saturday, when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that even she was ready to "consider opening portions" of the Outer Continental Shelf to oil exploration.
Speaker Pelosi and Washington Democrats appear ready to allow a vote on new off-shore energy exploration. But now is not the time to let up the pressure.
Please join the fight today!
If you haven’t done so, sign the petition in favor of my plan to lower gas prices, the Gas Price Reduction Act. My plan would:
1) increase offshore oil exploration
2) harness the untapped potential of oil shale
3) encourage development of electric cars and trucks, and
4) strengthen our ability to prevent speculators from driving up the price of gas
If you have already signed the petition, please invite your friends and family to join you.
We are winning the fight for lower gas prices. Please help us increase the pressure on anti-drilling forces in DC.
Thanks for your help,
Mitch McConnell
