John McCain
President of the United States
Most notable as the senior United States Senator from Arizona, John McCain has served in that office since 1987. Prior to that, McCain served two terms as a United States Congressman and four years as Director of the United States Navy's Senate Relations Office. Additionally, he was a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in 2000.
McCain is a Vietnam veteran, where he was held as a prisoner of war for over five years. He is married to Cindy and has seven children.

Sarah Palin
Vice-President of the United States
Currently in her first term as Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin was selected by Senator McCain to be his running mate this year. Prior to her current position, Governor Palin served as both Mayor and a councilmember in Wasila, Alaska and was Chair of the Alaska Conservation Commission. She is a former sports reporter and has been active in many community organizations.
A self-proclaimed "hockey mom", Governor Palin is married to Todd Palin and they have five children, the youngest born this past April.

Mitch McConnell
United States Senator
First elected in 1984, Senator Mitch McConnell holds the distinction of the longest serving Republican United States Senator in Kentucky's history. Just as notable, he currently serves as Republican Leader in the Senate, the only Kentuckian to ever hold such position.
Prior to his election, McConnell served as Judge-Executive of Jefferson County, Deputy Assistant United States Attorney General in the Ford Administration and as a member of U.S. Senator Marlow Cook's staff. Senator McConnell is married to United States Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao and has three daughters.

Geoff Davis
United States Representative (4th District)
First elected in 2004, Congressman Geoff Davis has represented Kentucky's 4th District in Congress for the past two terms. Currently, he serves in the House Republican leadership as Deputy Whip.
Prior to his election, Congressman Davis owned a manufacturing consulting business. He is a West Point graduate and served as U.S. Army Ranger and senior parachutist. He lives in Boone County with his wife, Pat, and their six children.

Jon Larson
United States Representative (6th District)
Jon Larson has previously run for both the Lexington-Fayette County Urban Council and the 2007 Republican nomination for Attorney General. He has served on the Lexington-Fayette Urban County environmental commission as well as the city's greenspace, Hispanic issues and human rights commissions.
He practices as a criminal defense attorney.

Damon Thayer
State Senator (17th District)
Currently serving his second term, Damon Thayer is the first Scott County Republican to ever serve in the Kentucky General Assembly. Senator Thayer currently serves as the Chairman of the Senate State & Local Government Committee and the Horse Farming subcomittee.
Senator Thayer has previously served as Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Kentucky and Chairman of the 4th District Republican Party. After serving as Vice-President of Event Marketing for Breeders' Cup Ltd., Senator Thayer formed Thayer Communications and Consulting LLC. He resides in Scott County with his wife, Carrie, and their two children.

Bill Burke
City Council
Seeking office for the first time, Bill Burke is a resident of Georgetown and works as a plant manager of a manufacturing facility in Versailles, where he manages approximately 300 employees and $60 million in sales and operations budgets. He spent 26 years in the Army, both active and reserves, and retired as a Sergeant Major. Additionally, Bill currently serves on the board of the Georgetown Municipal Water and Sewer Service. He resides in the Canewood neighborhood with his wife Marilyn and has two adult children.

Steve Glass
City Council
First elected in 2004, Steve Glass has been your representative on the Georgetown City Council for the past two terms. He currently serves on the Fire and Storm Water committees as well as council representative on the Georgetown-Scott County Advisory Council for the Bluegrass Community and Technical College.
Steve is a Certified Public Accountant practicing in Georgetown and is a retired farmer. He is a member and past vestryman of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. He is also a member of Mt. Vernon Lodge #14, F. & A.M. He resides in Georgetown with his wife of 30 years, Elisabeth. They have five children and are expecting their first grandchild in October.

Seeking office for the first time, Mark Showalter is a 39 year old native of Georgetown. He is a graduate of both Scott County High School and the University of Kentucky. He spent 7 years in the United States Naval Reserves, leaving with an Honorable Discharge. He is married to Crystal, a teacher at Western Elementary School, and they have two children, Sam and Ellie. Mark is employed in the trucking/transportation industry by USF Holland, where he works in outside sales.

Claude Christensen
City Commission
Claude was appointed to the Sadieville City Commission in October 2005, and subsequently elected to a full term in November, 2006. He was elected Mayor Pro Tem in January, 2007. In addition to his duties as Sadieville's Public Works Commissioner, he serves Scott County on the Blue Grass Area Development District Transportation Advisory Committee and Water Management Board, and on the Scott County Solid Waste Advisory and on the Scott County Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
Claude is a retired federal executive having served as Deputy Chief Information Officer and Chief Enterprise Architect for the Peace Corps and in various technical and senior management positions within the Department of the Interior including Agency Data Administrator and Senior Technical Advisor to the Secretary of the Interior. He is also a veteran having served for seven years in the U.S. Air Force.
He holds degrees in Geology and Land Use and completed senior management training programs at the federal level. He and his wife Sandra have three grown children and enjoy the rustic country living available in and around Sadieville.
