Chairman Tommy Druen, a native Kentuckian, was first elected as the
head of the Scott County Republican Party in 2004, and subsequently
reelected in 2008. When first elected, he was the youngest
county chairman in Kentucky.
Raised in Wisdom, Kentucky, Tommy
is a 1996 graduate of Metcalfe County High School. In 2000, he
earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Centre College, where he
majored in history and government.
While at Centre, Tommy was a
founding member of the Centre College Republicans. He served
two terms as Chairman of the chapter, leading it as it became the
largest student organization, boasting over 33% of the student body as
members. The organization hosted such dignitaries as Secretary
of Labor Elaine Chao, former U.S. Senator and White House Chief of
Staff Howard Baker and former White House Press Secretary Marlin
Fitzwater.
Tommy additionally served as Executive Director of
the Kentucky Federation of College Republicans from 1998-2000 and as
Chairman of that organization from 2000-2001. In 2000, he was
elected to be a delegate to the Republican National Convention in
Philadelphia.
Tommy has served as both a Precinct Chairman and Youth Chairman for the Scott County Republican Party.
In
2005, Tommy was elected as Vice-Chairman of the 6th District Republican
Party, a position he was re-elected to in 2008, as well as serving as a
member of the State Central and Executive Committees of the Republican
Party of Kentucky.
Since 2001, he has worked as a policy analyst
for the Republican Caucus of the Kentucky House of
Representatives. Previously, he worked for Congresswoman Anne
Northup's campaign and as Political Director of the Northup-Hoover
campaign for Governor.
Tommy is a resident of Georgetown where
he lives with his wife Erin and their dog Cassius. Outside of
politics, he serves on the Board of Directors of both the Ward Hall
Preservation Foundation and the Scott County Council of the Arts.
